BROW AFTERCARE

Proper aftercare of your eyebrow tattoo is very important. During the first week, the tattooed area will appear significantly darker, larger, and sharper than what is expected for the final outcome. Slight swelling and redness can occur. One procedure cannot guarantee desired outcome(s). The tattoo will be much lighter and less crisp once healed. In some cases, it is necessary to review the healing process after the first procedure in order to see how clients react to the pigment. The tattoo will fade 25-40% after the first session. Therefore, you must book in for a touch-up visit within 6-10 weeks from the date of the initial procedure. For complicated cases involving pigment lightening or colour correction, there will be an extra charge.

THE DAY OF TREATMENT

  • Gently wash the area with the ink soap every 2 hours for the first 24 hours. Removing this lymphatic fluid prevents scabbing of the brows.

DAY 1 TO SEVEN - WASH

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin (this does not remove the pigment ☺)

  • GENTLY wash your eyebrows each morning and night with lukewarm water and the after soap provided in your aftercare kit. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean lint free wipe. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants on the face or anywhere the brows can be affected.

  • Allow the eyebrows to air dry

DAY 1 TO SEVEN - NOURISH

  • Apply healing balm provided in your aftercare kit (rice grain amount) with a clean cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Make sure that you do not over-apply the area, as this will suffocate your skin and delay or prevent healing. The healing balm should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the healing balm on a wet or damp tattoo.

REMINDERS:

  • Use a fresh, clean pillowcase

  • DO NOT rub, scratch, or pick any scabs along the tattooed area – let it fall off naturally. Early removal or picking of pigment crusts/scabs may result in loss of color, scarring, or infection.

  • Avoid facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks

  • Avoid swimming, soaking in water, steam baths, hot tubs, and facials for the first 10 days

  • Avoid sweating for the first 10 days

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area for 2 weeks

  • Avoid direct sun exposure (including tanning beds) for 4 weeks after procedure. Wear a hat and large sunglasses when outdoors.

SHOWERING:

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes to avoid creating too much steam.

  • Keep your face/eyebrow area out of the water while you wash your body, and only wash your hair at the end of your shower.

  • Your face should only be getting wet at the end of the shower.

  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

TOUCH UPS:

  • This is a 2 step process. The first session is used to build shape and gain symmetry. The second session is used to perfect the brows and add density.

  • Some clients do require a third appointment to achieve the desired look depending on healed result.

  • The first touch-up or second session is done within the first 1-2 months after the first session.

  • It is your responsibility to book your touch up appointments. With the high demand it usually takes about 1 month to get a touchup appointment so please plan accordingly. If your tattoo comes back too faded additional charges may apply.

  • Do not expect perfect results after the first session.

  • Darker skin women, permanent makeup will not look as bold or sharp compared to lighter skin clients.

  • Some client’s skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions.

LONG TERM CARE:

  • There is no guarantee of results, everyone’s results will vary due to skin type, lifestyle, and the initial 7 day care and longterm care of your brow tattoo.

  • Use at least SPF 50 to protect your brows, sun exposure will cause long-term fading and can alter the color of your tattoo.

  • Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will case the brows to fade faster.

  • Do not do laser your brow area (IPL etc.), some lasers may change the color of the ink.

  • As the tattoo fades the strokes and shading will get fainter and less defined.

  • Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Touchups are booked and required on average every 9 - 12 months to maintain you brow tattoo.

  • Pre book your brow clean up's and tinting every 4-8 weeks to maintain shape and colour if recommended.

There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not take care of your semi-permanent tattoo.

Jennifer typically books about 4-6weeks in advance all appointments.
